D.Parker Productions
Mission: founded and run by Maureen Van Trease, D.Parker Productions seeks to provide artistic opportunities for elderly and marginalized groups of people by creating projects that employ and create media that lifts these groups up. I’ll be creating TV, film, new media and live theater projects.
CURRENT PROJECT:
WELCOME TO BELLE VIEW – Dramedy TV Pilot
Pilot Episode Logline:
A newly-widowed stay-at-home mom to an adult daughter with Down Syndrome must learn to navigate what seems to be a miracle job offer – as the Admissions Coordinator at the Belle View Skilled Nursing Facility – but crazy bosses, fire alarm pullers and escapees will rattle her confidence and test her resolve.
This story is a 5-year labor of love between two ladies that have been best friends for 47 years. Susan Lamkins has worked in the Skilled Nursing Facility environment for over 20 years and has enough stories to fill up at least 3 seasons worth of episodes. While she comes at this from the facility side of the equation, Maureen Van Trease comes from the family side of this issue, having cared for both her parents as they suffered from Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
We will gratefully accept any amount you can spare. Please check out our ‘DONATE’ BUTTON and ‘PERKS’ BUTTON BELOW!

We want to share these touching and sometimes crazy stories with all of you! It’s the frantic medical world of “Scrubs” meets the compassion for patient needs of “New Amsterdam” with a touch of the zany craziness of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (without Nurse Ratched) and the grouchiness of “Grumpy Old Men” thrown in.
SYNOPSIS

Holly’s first day as Belle View’s Admissions Coordinator is off to a rocky start , losing her wrap skirt to an elderly fashion designer being wheeled away on a gurney. She gets her skirt back on, waits for her new boss, and thinks back on her 6-month job search, her daughter skipping fashion college classes to bag groceries, and this miracle job offer from Gloria, the Belle View Executive Director.
Day one finds her meeting the nursing staff, getting caught up in arguments between dementia patients, and watching an elderly lady attempt to pull the fire alarm. She finds herself about to be ill when she passes by her dead husband’s old room. The day ends with meeting her Admissions Director, Carol, who proves to be vengeful and possibly crazy when she destroys the wall clock, takes all the office supplies and the chair from Holly’s new office.

Holly resolves to continue, but 2 weeks later makes the mistake of not shutting the door to the memory care unit completely and, with the floor nurse, must chase down 3 gentlemen who are attempting to get in the elevator. That evening, her daughter talks Holly into staying with it, no matter what, and when Holly returns to work, she is surprised to get Gloria’s support. As she heads back to work, she meets the “skirt pulling” fashion designer again, and he promises to mentor Holly’s daughter.

It does indeed take a village to bring a TV Pilot to life. As you can see from our chart, there are many moving parts to keep production and filming running smoothly, and then of course, to get it edited and out to the public!
We want to provide a living wage for our cast (there’s 21 of us) and crew (there’s 14 of them), whether they are with us for one day or all four, as well as provide transportation expenses and of course food! As you can see, that makes up most of the
budget.

Your gift is a Tax Deductible Charitable Contribution.
